The JT Connection

Hands down the place I’ve spent the most time at during visits home when I wasn’t staying with Mom and Dad or friends, is the Cliffs Hotel and Resort in Shell Beach.

I’m partial to Shell Beach. I’ve wanted to live in this quiet little stretch of coastline since I first discovered the beauty of sunsets here and the quiet of the beaches below the cliffs in college. Now I’m lucky enough that I do live here. But if you want a wonderful place to wind down and just soak in the beauty of the area, I suggest the Cliffs. It’s a really nice hotel with reasonable prices (especially for Ruby Shoes members) for what you get.

We’re talking a pool overlooking the Pacific, an amazing patio at the hotel restaurant Marisol to watch a sunset from year-round, a decent gym and great friendly staff. (And free valet.) This has been, and always will be one of my favorite places to catch a sunset or patio happy hour. (It was my first stop on trips home from the Midwest.)

The rooms are updated, coastal cozy and, if you are willing to pay just a little more than base rate, come with that amazing view I keep talking about. (For special occasions I highly recommend being Seizer of the Day and asking for the King Suite where the patio is all yours and the views don’t get much better.)
