The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Most people sing that refrain around Christmas time, and I do as well. I love the holiday season. I also love summer. LOVE it. And living in wine country, I love harvest time as well.
For winemakers, it’s truly the most wonderful time of the year. It’s when they get to enjoy the fruits of their labors. When they find out the impact mother nature has had on those labors. When they make the big decisions on when is the best time to pick for ultimate flavor. It’s crunch time, crush time and bottling time. It’s intense and wonderful to watch or be a part of.
It’s why I’m thrilled Ruby Shoes Wine Club members get to be a part of it. From 8am-1pm on the day of our September pick-up party (September 13th, Silver Horse Winery 5:30-8:30pm) you can go help winemaker Stephen Kroener and the gang at Silver Horse bottle this year’s vintages. They’ll be bottling (corks, foils and packaging), barreling down and drinking 3 or 4 delicious wines including that fantastic red, Pegasus, that day.
Not only will you get to experience the excitement and celebration of Harvest time, you’ll get to take home a bottle or two of the varietals you helped put in those bottles. They are accepting the first 10 folks who can roll up their sleeves (wear comfortable shoes and warm weather clothes) and put in some real work. Email us at Janice@rubyshoeswine.com if you would like to be part of this harvest experience.
So, mark your calendars and let us know if you are in. It is, after all, the most wonderful time of the year.
